It’s a little bit of a cheat to use a live album as the Album of the Month but Katatonia’s Sanctitude was simply too good to pass by. The melancholic rockers, inspired by their recent acoustic output Dethroned and Uncrowned, took to the venues of Europe to perform shows like none they had before. Their music works beautifully in both their original forms and their new acoustic counterparts, the intimate setting adding just that little more to the sound. Also included are rarely played tracks spanning all the way back to the haunting ‘Day’ from 1996’s Brave Murder Day. Simply put, it’s a perfect place to start with the band if you’re new and equally perfect for the long-time die-hard fans to hear their favourite tracks in a new light.
